Retin A No Rx

The agony and the ecstasy of Mike Daisey: The story that dominated this week broke last Friday, when This American Life announced it would retract a January story about abuses in Apple's factories in China. The piece, adapted from a monologue performance by Mike Daisey, turned out to be littered with falsehoods, which were discovered by a reporter for Marketplace and subsequently admitted by Daisey. Daisey's response was far more defensive than contrite, Retin A dangers. Blogger Rachel Joy Larris contended that Daisey was aping the practice of journalism to give his stories a veneer of credibility.

Several commentators delved into the possible reasons for Daisey's fabrications: Reuters' Felix Salmon said that it stemmed from a desire to turn a complicated reality into a simple narrative with clear good guys and bad guys, the New Yorker's Evan Osnos posited that Daisey believed that China was too faraway and exotic to be fact-checked, Retin A mg. Two other bloggers, Matthew Baldwin and Aaron Bady, said Daisey's main problem was his narcissistic need to put himself at the center of his stories, and Arik Hesseldahl of All Things D refuted Daisey's assertion that he was the only one shining a light on these abuses. Daisey did have a few defenders—entrepreneur Kevin Slavin, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and columnist Michael Wolff, who argued that journalists' preoccupation with factual diligence neglects the fact that good writing is what audiences value, Retin A No Rx. Additionally, others, included these professors writing at CNN, were worried that Daisey's lies would distract from the larger truth of abuses in Apple's factories in China.

Time's James Poniewozik offered a similar "larger truth" point, fast shipping Retin A, but pinned the blame solely on Daisey — because of his lying, other well-reported accounts of abuses will be tarred by the "larger truth" of Daisey's exposure. The New York Times' David Carr was relatively sympathetic Retin A No Rx, , contending that no matter what mechanisms are employed, some fabulists will always slip through journalism's cracks. But at the Columbia Journalism Review, Lawrence Pintak pointed out plenty of problems in TAL's fact-checking process, and Poynter's Craig Silverman said it wasn't fact-checking at all. Jay Rosen wondered whether that fact-checking failure was because TAL has fallen too deeply in love with stories, and Poynter's Roy Peter Clark offered a similar indictment"Ira Glass wanted the story to be true, Retin A dose. He let down his guard – and his audience, who also wanted the story to be true."

Also at Poynter, Steve Myers and Craig Silverman presented some lingering questions about TAL's standards and fact-checking processes, and here at the Lab, Canada, mexico, india, Ken Doctor suggested that the solution isn't to try to erecting higher walls between journalism and everything else, but to acknowledge and disclose the blurring boundaries that come with digital media convergence.

Ceding ground in news to the tech Goliaths: Pew's Project for Excellence in Journalism released its annual State of the Media report this week, and its overview lays out the themes pretty well: Mobile media consumption has come of age, a handful of tech giants are taking the lion's share of the economic benefits as they fight to gain jurisdiction over more of our online lives, and the decline of traditional media continues to take its toll, generic Retin A, financially and civically. Jeff Sonderman of Poynter also has a good summary of some of the other findings, especially as media consumption is concerned, Retin A No Rx.

One area that got some attention was on Facebook and Twitter use for news, which found that only 9 percent of American adults get their news often from Facebook and Twitter recommendations. Peter Kafka of All Things D interpreted the findings to mean that even though social media is much further along as a news source than it was just a few years ago, Retin A coupon, it's still on the early-adopter curve.

PaidContent's Staci Kramer pointed out a few other social media findings that make sense — Twitter users are more likely to follow links from news sources and news recommendations from non-news sources, and they're more likely not to know where a news recommendation comes from. And GigaOM's Mathew Ingram saw a larger trend of personalized curation and aggregation, in which platforms like Facebook are becoming major players — and "frenemies" of news orgs.

The Lab's Adrienne LaFrance focused Retin A No Rx, on who's getting the money in this scramble for mobile and digital news dominance, and landed on the tech giants, pointing out that five tech companies (not including Apple and Amazon) received 68 percent of all digital ad revenue last year. She talked to the project's Amy Mitchell about the prospect that one of those companies could swoop in to take over a struggling news org and the idea that "technology leaders might identify news production as a path to omnipresence in consumers’ lives." Poynter's Rick Edmonds looked at the way this is hitting newspapers, about Retin A, warning that they're close the edge of losing a critical mass of advertising revenue.

The Times' pay plan tightens up: It's been a year now since the New York Times launched its paid-content plan, and Joe Pompeo of Capital New York detailed its inception and its success: More subscribers than the paper anticipated and the same overall web audience, though slightly lower traffic. Buy Retin A from canada, He also touched on the Times' plans for the paywall going forward, including its attempts to grow internationally and to convert more casual readers to subscribers, partly through tablets.

The Times unveiled the next step in its paywall development the next morning, announcing that it would drop the number of free articles per month before the wall kicks in from 20 to 10. (You can still get Times articles after you hit the wall by finding them through blogs, social media and, to a lesser extent, search.) Peter Kafka of All Things D wondered whether the Times was making the change simply because it could or because it had to, Retin A No Rx.

Reading roundup: There wasn't a whole lot being discussed in the journalism/tech world this week outside of the Daisey debacle, but there were still a few miscellaneous pieces worth reading:

— Fortune was the latest media outlet to cover Pinterest's meteoric rise, but some real warts are emerging: More attention is being drawn to its copyright problems from people like artist Glendon Mellow and the photographers' group Artists' Bill of Rights. Pinterest has assured that it's addressing copyright issues. MediaShift, meanwhile, showed how j-school profs are using Pinterest in their classes.

— On one side of media utopian/dystopian divide, Sasha Frere-Jones of the New Yorker offered a fine rebuttal to the argument that Twitter inhibits deep thought and serious argument.

— On the other, cultural critic Evgeny Morozov lamented the possible dangers to privacy in automated forms of journalism in a piece at Slate, decrying "our refusal to investigate the social and political consequences of living in a world where reading anonymously becomes a near impossibility."

— Finally, the Lab's Andrew Phelps put together a smart analysis of Gawker's new editorial strategy of alternating "traffic-whoring" with more substantive posts.

Zoloft No Rx

Looking for aggregation standards: In response to the dozens of dust-ups over the proper way to aggregate others' work online over the past few years, a new group has formed to establish some standards guiding the practice of pulling and drawing on others' writing. The group, called the Council on Ethical Blogging and Aggregation, was announced by Advertising Age's Simon Dumenco at the South by Southwest Interactive festival and given a shot of publicity in a column by the New York Times' David Carr.

The group is still in its early stages, but according to Carr, it may end up with some of seal of approval for sites that abide by the standards it comes up with. Cheap Zoloft no rx, Its members insisted they weren't anti-aggregation, but simply want to bring some order to a practice that's been chaotic and contentious. Dumenco explained his aims in a bit more depth in a Poynter chat as well.

Carr's column also highlighted a similar effort by Maria Popova, who runs the creatively aggregated site Brain Pickings, to introduce what she calls The Curator's Code, two new symbols to indicate whether you discovered a piece of content directly or indirectly, Zoloft No Rx. As the Atlantic's Megan Garber explained, behind the code lies the idea that curation—the ability to combine pieces of content together in a creative and compelling way—is a form of intellectual labor and even art, something that should be honored through honest attribution.

The backlash against both ideas didn't take long to start. Chris Crum of WebProNews said he appreciates the cause, purchase Zoloft online, but doesn't see any real usefulness for Popova's new symbols. Concern about Dumenco's council was more significant: FishbowlNY's Chris O'Shea said the council is made up only of content and blogging bigwigs and that it'll only be preaching to the choir anyway. Gawker's Hamilton Nolan made the same points a bit more forcefully Zoloft No Rx, , arguing that the group will be unnecessary to those who already care about aggregating properly and ignored anyway by those who don't. Plus, he said, "This sort of top-down, expert-heavy, Zoloft interactions, credential-credulous media structure is exactly what blogging has so brilliantly been destroying for more than a decade."

Rob Beschizza of BoingBoing and GigaOM's Mathew Ingram both argued, like Nolan, that the solution to shoddy aggregation is cultural and social, not formal, and as Ingram noted, "we already have a tool for providing credit to the original source: It’s called the hyperlink." Instapaper's Marco Arment said that the problem isn't whether people can find links to sources in aggregated work, but whether the aggregation eliminates the need for the link in the first place. He also disagreed with Popova's contention that discovery entails its own form of ownership, Zoloft natural.

J-prof Susan Currie Sivek, meanwhile, said that more than anything, the council and the Curator's Code may be for the curators themselves, rather than audiences. She referred to it as a form of "boundary work, Taking Zoloft, " a professionalizing tactic meant to set a profession or form of work off as distinct from similar groups and practices.

Britannica goes out of print: We on the web seem to gobble up those symbolic milestones that indicate that Print Is Dead, and we got a big one this week, when the Encyclopedia Britannica announced that it was printing its last paper copy, Zoloft No Rx. There was a decent bit of mourning: Steven Vaughan-Nichols of ZDNet voiced his disdain for the lack of appreciation of true expertise on Wikipedia, and author Alexander Chee said the rise of Wikipedia at the expense of Brittanica is indicative of two of our cultural problems: "first, the belief that we all have a right to our opinions, and a right to base them on misinformation, and second, where can i order Zoloft without prescription, that we rely on unpaid content."

Many others weren't shedding any tears, though. GigaOM's Mathew Ingram argued for the superiority of the open, networked process of gathering knowledge, and the New Republic's John McWhorter praised the comprehensiveness of Wikipedia. And while he was saddened by the closing, Zoloft canada, mexico, india, former Brittanica.com editor Charlie Madigan told Romenesko the encyclopedia had been far more interested in making money off of its knowledge than sharing it. Zoloft No Rx, Taking the middle way were Time's Matt Peckham, who noted that while the web offers us a wealth of easy-to-access information, it also requires us to be more diligent in our discernment of that information; and the Guardian's Dan Gillmor, said he's appreciated the wealth of knowledge Britannica's accumulated but wants to see traditional publishers like it act with less condescension toward the web.

And Tim Carmody of Wired threw some cold water on the 'Wikipedia killed Britannica' narrative, arguing instead that Microsoft's Encarta was the impetus for the encyclopedia's demise in the early '90s. Even in its heyday, Carmody said, print editions of Britannica were more valuable as cultural totems than actual knowledge sources. "Print will survive. Books will survive even longer. It’s print as a marker of prestige that’s dying, Zoloft class," he wrote.

How valuable is web activism?: The web's viral video du jour—the "Kony 2012" campaign aimed at raising awareness about the activities of Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony—has led to some fascinating discussions about the Internet's role in focusing attention on important issues and raising the possibility of meaningful collective action, Zoloft No Rx.

Numerous observers have raised valid points about the shortcomings of the video itself and the paternalistic attitudes toward Africa it reveals among those in the West; Ethan Zuckerman and BoingBoing's Xeni Jardin have done a tremendous job gathering and summarizing those sentiments. I'm going to focus here instead on the role of the web and social media in mobilizing collective action.

As the Guardian's John Naughton noted, the video's massive reach is a vivid demonstration of the capability of web to bring video to a much broader audience than traditional broadcast. But what happens after that point. GigaOM's Mathew Ingram laid out Zoloft No Rx, the basic point of disagreement—are videos like these spurring meaningful action on a wide scale, or merely pointless "slacktivism". Zoloft pictures, Sociologist Zeynep Tukefci objected to the term "slacktivism," arguing that the people who participate in networked activism campaigns like this aren't slacking off from "real" activism; they're taking symbolic action in a realm whose barriers to entry are typically too high for them to be included. In a similar New York Times column, she argued that the problem of limited action isn't because of the video, but because of a lack of institutional mechanisms for significant action on big issues. USC prof Henry Jenkins and his students pointed out the empowering nature of the video, but said it missed a chance to instill a deeper media literacy in its viewers.

In a fantastic post, Gilad Lotan of SocialFlow added some deep data to the discussion, Zoloft forum, showing that the video's spread relied on pre-existing networks that its producers, a nonprofit called Invisible Children, had been involved in for years, largely among Christian youth. An NPR story helped flesh out Invisible Children's work in building those networks and their importance to the video's success.

Re-arrests and a semi-apology in News Corp, Zoloft No Rx. case: A quick update on News Corp.'s ongoing travails: Rupert Murdoch's son, Online buy Zoloft without a prescription, James, who recently moved out of the company's British newspaper division to a spot elsewhere in the company, wrote to the British Parliamentary's investigation committee taking responsibility and expressing regret for allowing the phone hacking to go on so long but maintaining his innocence regarding the hacking itself.

Meanwhile, the former head of that division, Rebekah Brooks, was re-arrested this week on suspicion of obstruction of justice, and a top reporter at the now-defunct News of the World was also re-arrested on suspicion of intimidating a witness, Zoloft cost. A former NotW reporter told the investigation he was fired during the 1980s because he refused to bribe police officers. Murdoch told the staff of the Sun that the investigation into that paper would be finished soon, but he and his son have been booked to testify before the investigation next month.

Reading roundup Zoloft No Rx, : Lots of smaller stories this week to keep an eye on, thanks in part to South by Southwest. Here's a quick rundown:

— Twitter announced this week it's buying the microblogging site Posterous (The Next Web has plenty of details.) Posterous hasn't exactly been thriving, so it was widely assumed that Twitter bought it for its technology and talent and will shut down the site sooner or later. Several people, Zoloft price, coupon, including Dave Winer and Poynter's Jeff Sonderman, noted a lesson for web users (including journalists): Platforms—especially free ones—are fragile things.

— A slew of SXSW happenings: Gawker's Nick Denton decried the state of online comments and detailed his plans to overhaul Gawker's commenting format, and Anil Dash talked about why the effort excites him. A marketing firm launched a program that turned homeless people into wireless hotspots, which got lots of people upset (but not Megan Garber). Reuters' Felix Salmon reported (and the New York Times seconded) that CNN was close to buying the social media blog Mashable, but paidContent's Staci Kramer was skeptical, Zoloft No Rx. And New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson spoke on her paper's future, then caught up with Forbes' Jeff Bercovici, buy Zoloft no prescription.

— Yahoo sued Facebook in federal court for infringing on 10 patents covering advertising, privacy, and social networking. Much of the opinion among tech folks aligned against Yahoo, but Om Malik said there has to be more here than meets the eye.

— Finally, two fantastic pieces on how to improve journalism education: Web writer Howard Rheingold talked about the importance of teaching students to collaborate, and Nebraska j-prof Matt Waite suggested teaching tech outside the j-school curriculum.

After a week off last week, this week's review covers the past two weeks.

Cultural roots of news' revenue problems: Pew's Project for Excellence in Journalism released this week one of the more interesting of its recent studies on the financial state of newspapers: It used (anonymized) private data from 38 newspapers and numerous interviews to paint a picture of how newspapers are fitting together the revenue puzzle online. The news, as usual, wasn't good. The big takeaway stat is that for every dollar newspapers are gaining in digital revenue, they're losing $7 in print revenue.

The Lab's Justin Ellis pulled together some of the other highlights from the report: Mobile isn't big money yet, Zoloft reviews, digital revenue is still dominated by classified and display ads, and most newspapers have adopted Groupon or one of its daily-deal clones, with mixed results. PaidContent's Staci Kramer critiqued the study for not touching on paid-content plans, but came up with a good (though depressing summary): "some papers are less screwed than others right now; all of them face a reckoning but some will postpone it longer than others; some papers have lots of room to grow with digital revenue because they’re so far behind; and some view running a modern newspaper as the equivalent of strip mining."

Based on those dispiriting findings, Gawker's Hamilton Nolan offered a few predictions for the next several years of the newspaper business: Newspapers will survive and eventually stabilize, but with much smaller staffs, ubiquitous paywalls, and a few mid-sized metro closings, Order Zoloft.

Another area of the study that got a lot of attention was its emphasis on "culture wars" between print and the web as a persistent obstacle to change. Poynter's Rick Edmonds said a faster culture-change approach seems to be working at previously struggling properties like the Journal Register Co., but outfits that still have strong print operations need to strike a tougher balance. Zoloft price, GigaOM's Mathew Ingram said the best way to fight cultural inertia is to put the digital folks in charge, and Michele McLellan of the Knight Digital Media Center advised news orgs to stop ostracizing the innovators and start ostracizing the curmudgeons.

More momentum for paywalls: A year after the New York Times launched its influential paid-content plan, newspaper paywalls may be reaching critical mass. Order Zoloft, The Los Angeles Times announced a new paywall that launched this week, and like just about everyone else right now, it's following the Times' metered model: 15 free articles each month, then an initial charge of 99 cents a week that goes up to $1.99 a week (with a Sunday newspaper thrown in). The Times is calling its plan not a paywall, but a "membership program," which Spot.Us' David Cohn saw as an important rhetorical shift.

Several other papers announced moves into paid content, where to buy Zoloft, too: As Poynter's Jeff Sonderman noted, the Washington Post's new politics iPad app charges users $2.99 a month for its full features, the paper's deepest foray yet into charging for digital content. Rhode Island's Providence Journal launched a paywall built around a digital replica of the print edition. Gannett also announced its coming company-wide paywalls last month, which, Purchase Zoloft for sale, as the Lab's Justin Ellis reported, may be banking on the success of its smaller papers. And at News Corp., the hard-paywalled Times of London is watching the New York Times' metered model closely, and Search Engine Land's Danny Sullivan noticed the paywalled Wall Street Journal is pulling back on what Google readers can see for free, Order Zoloft.

All these varied developments, of course, make what the news industry calls a Trend™, so we had features on the rise of newspaper paywalls in the Wall Street JournalChristian Science Monitor, and The Wrap. The (paywalled) Journal was pretty bullish on their prospect, while the (mostly non-paywalled) Monitor and Wrap emphasized the continued skepticism. Several small-newspaper execs chimed in supporting paywalls, including Keith Foutz at Editor & Publisher and others covered by NetNewsCheck, as did Warren Buffett, Rx free Zoloft, new owner of the newly paywalled Omaha World-Herald. GigaOM's Mathew Ingram pushed back against Buffett in particular.

Poynter's Rick Edmonds pointed out an interesting element Order Zoloft, of the paywall rush—many of these regional newspapers are developing their plans in close consultation with one another. He focused on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Boston Globe's roles as models for other regional newspapers. Poynter's Mallary Jean Tenore, meanwhile, looked at a practical aspect of paywall implementation—how those newspapers' social media efforts work with (and around) their paywall plans.

Apple's new iPad and new warning: Apple unveiled the newest version of its iPad this week, as well as an update to Apple TV. Bloomberg and the New York Times have the best summaries of what exactly Apple announced and how it differs from what came before: As the Times' Sam Grobart wrote, Zoloft dosage, this was a "plumbing event," where the biggest innovations were under the hood with the infrastructure of Apple's products.

For Apple, the event was about trying to push the iPad as the gateway to the "post-PC" world: It pointed out that it sold more iPads last quarter than any PC manufacturer sold of their PCs. At TechCrunch, MG Siegler said that rhetoric (and those stats) need to be taken seriously, and ReadWriteWeb's Dan Frommer said this could be Apple's chance to build something bigger than the PC market ever was, Order Zoloft. Larry Dignan said it's not just PCs that the new iPad is competing with, but pretty much everyone. Zoloft street price, Unfortunately for Apple, that probably wasn't the biggest news about the company this week. The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. Department of Justice has warned Apple and five of the nation's largest book publishers that it's planning to sue them for antitrust violations regarding Apple's model for iPad e-book prices that allows wholesales to dictate prices directly. News Corp.'s culture of corruption: The developments in News Corp.'s ongoing scandal are still coming fast and furious. The biggest of those in the past two weeks was the news that Rupert Murdoch's son, James, was stepping down as head of News International, Zoloft treatment, the company's British newspaper arm that's been at the center of the scandal.

As the New York Times reported, the company portrayed the move as a routine jump across the Atlantic to work on its international TV properties, but others saw it as an attempt to protect James Murdoch from the scandal's fallout. Disgruntled shareholders are still working to oust James from the company altogether, and the BBC's Robert Preston pointed out that rather than receding from the spotlight in the wake of the scandal, the 80-year-old Rupert is actually taking on even more control. Zoloft use, James Murdoch's move came after some new allegations last week from a top police investigator that News Corp.'s Sun had a "culture of illegal payments" to a broad network of government officials from the paper's highest levels. According to the Guardian, those new allegations increased the chance of a possible U.S, Order Zoloft. prosecution of News Corp., and an 11th Sun reporter was arrested in Britain for illegal payments last week. The public and professional value of linking: The intermittent debate over the relative value of linking in journalism flared up again last week, leading to some particularly thoughtful pieces on the subject. Order Zoloft, It started after the Wall Street Journal didn't credit tech blogger MG Siegler for a scoop he had, prompting a lengthy discussion on Twitter, Storified by Mathew Ingram, over whether news orgs should link to competitors who beat them to a story.

Mother Jones' Kevin Drum and Poynter's Steve Myers agreed with Salmon, while Digital First's Steve Buttry and web philosopher David Weinberger echoed some of Ingram's points. Weinberger argued that places like the Journal are failing to link based on a need to protect their authority over knowledge, rather than sharing it with the public, and that "Links are a public good. They create a web that is increasingly rich, useful, where can i buy Zoloft online, diverse, and trustworthy. WikiLeaks' Anonymous partnership: WikiLeaks made its latest document release last week with five million emails from the private global intelligence firm Stratfor, acquired by hackers from the group Anonymous who breached the company's servers late last year. WikiLeaks worked with 25 media partners on this release, including McClatchy and Rolling Stone in the U.S. Wired's Quinn Norton reported on the connection between Anonymous and WikiLeaks, which Gawker called the most interesting thing to come out of this leak, Order Zoloft.

Others seemed to agree — mostly on the boredom of the rest of the leak. Reading roundup: I've tried to cram a ton of news into this week's review, so I'll run through the miscellaneous bits pretty quickly:

— Conservative digital media mogul Andrew Breitbart died suddenly last week at 43. — Last week's monthly Carnival of Journalism focused on the digital trends that are likely to shape journalism over the next few years, and Steve Outing's Storified list of the predictions is a great array of thoughts about what's next in the field.

— Finally, a couple of cool resources: One from the Columbia Journalism Review on countering misinformation in the news, and another huge set of tools and tutorials for journalists and programmers from last month's NICAR conference.

Armour Mg

A case study in nonprofit news sustainability: One of the more prominent of the wave of nonprofit news startups that launched over the past several years is about to effectively shut down. As the Chicago Reader first reported, the Chicago News Cooperative will stop maintaining its website and producing content for the New York Times this weekend. By far the best account of the situation is in this Storify by Free Press' Josh Stearns, but I'll provide a short version here for those not interested in the gory details.

As the Reader explained, Armour used for, CNC is shutting down because it couldn't get a grant it had expected from the MacArthur Foundation, its largest funder. CNC had applied to be classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, but it was awaiting IRS approval on whether news orgs could be classified as such, and MacArthur essentially ran out of time waiting for the IRS to make a decision. CNC also asked the Times, which has run its stories since the organization's founding in 2009, to pay more for the service, but the Times wouldn't do that, Armour Mg. The group's CEO, James O'Shea, kjøpe Armour på nett, köpa Armour online, said it'll cease operations as it tries to find an alternative funding option.

Geoff Dougherty, who founded another short-lived Chicago nonprofit news outfit in the Chi-Town Daily News, didn't buy MacArthur's story and accused the foundation of playing city hall politics (something both O'Shea and MacArthur denied to Romenesko). Chicago, Japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal, Dougherty said, just isn't committing to funding quality journalism in the way that other cities with successful nonprofit news orgs are. The Columbia Journalism Review's Ryan Chittum, meanwhile, urged the IRS to finally give news orgs some clarity on their 501(c)(3) eligibility. Armour Mg, Others said the problem lay more with CNC itself. Time Out Chicago's Robert Feder said he never bought into CNC's vague business plan,  declaring that "no matter how noble the effort nor how worthy the product, is Armour addictive, journalism can’t succeed as a charity case." Dan Sinker of the Knight-Mozilla News Technology Partnership detailed CNC's lackluster online efforts, concluding that the organization's decision to treat the web as an afterthought was what brought it down.

J-prof Jeff Jarvis chastised journalists for not knowing more about the business side of their field, citing CNC as "evidence that the siren call of not-for-profit journalism seduces news organizations away from sustainability, survival, Is Armour safe, and success." In contrast, Jarvis held up a speech last week by Digital First CEO John Paton of the Journal Register Co. and MediaNews Group, who said that "crappy newspaper executives" are a greater threat to the business than any technological change.

Philadelphia journalism and political influence: After reports over the past couple of weeks that the Philadelphia Media Network — which owns the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News — had spiked stories in both papers about the company's impending sale, the papers' journalists released a statement condemning the interference late last week. This week, former Philly mayor and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell said he'd consider putting up a firewall between ownership and the newsrooms if his investing group bought the company, Armour Mg.

There was speculation all week about how likely ownership by the Rendell group would be: After a report over the weekend by Naked Philadelphian that Rendell wouldn't be buying the papers, where can i find Armour online, Rendell responded that the bid was still on and countered the critics who questioned such a powerful political figure owning the papers. At the Lab, Danish j-prof Rasmus Kleis Nielsen posited that Rendell's potential ownership might represent a model for the future of media: Political interests running struggling news orgs not as profitable enterprises, but as political instruments. "This is not a situation in which journalism is simply on a diet and being supplemented by various new ventures. It is a scenario where it is more directly intertwined with outside political and business interests than it has been for years, Buy cheap Armour, " he wrote.

Daily News blogger Will Bunch urged the next owners not to go that route, but to listen to and partner with the people in running the papers. Armour Mg, He also said the new owners need a lot more than a sense of civic duty — like, an actual plan — to keep the papers viable and made a strong case for keeping the Daily News alive. Poynter's Rick Edmonds explained why the Daily News has survived so long, but also why it may not last much longer.

News Corp. taking back Sunday: Rupert Murdoch is making a major bid this week to show the world that News Corp. is down but not out, launching the Sun on Sunday, a new weekly edition of its weekday tabloid, Armour Mg. The move fills the void left by last summer's closing of the Sunday tabloid News of the World — and was widely expected back then. Murdoch also lifted the suspensions of the paper's recently arrested journalists, though he did say in his email to staff that he's obligated to keep turning over all potential phone hacking evidence to police (which, as the Guardian pointed out, wasn't true), Armour treatment.

In two Guardian pieces, British j-prof Roy Greenslade praised Murdoch for preventing a mutiny at the Sun and for showing "the strength of buccaneers running papers rather than corporations," while Forbes' Jeff Bercovici cited analysts who said Murdoch waited too long to replace News of the World. Then, early this week, Order Armour online overnight delivery no prescription, a mysterious Twitter account purportedly belonging to an ex-NOTW journalist reported on staff unhappiness and reluctant advertisers for the Sun on Sunday, which produces its first issue this Sunday. Reading roundup: It was pretty quiet overall this week, but there were a few smaller conversations worth keeping an eyeing on:

— For the second week in a row, we're mourning the death of beloved journalists in Syria. Marie Colvin, an American working for the Sunday Times of London, herbal Armour, and French photographer Rémi Ochlik were killed Wednesday in an attack that's believed to be deliberate. After the killings, Syria asked foreign journalists to report to the government, wounded journalists pleaded to leave the country, Britain summoned its Syrian ambassador in protest, Armour without a prescription, and friends wrote remembrances of the journalists' courage and devotion.

— Forbes' Jeff Bercovici reported that Gannett, the U.S.' largest newspaper chain, announced plans to implement paywalls (the in-vogue metered model) at all of its 80 papers except its largest, USA Today. PaidContent's Jeff Roberts evaluated the plan's chances of success, Armour Mg.

— The "original reporting vs. aggregation" debate went another round this week when blogger/entrepreneur Nick O'Neill wrote about how a Forbes writer quickly re-wrote a New York Times feature and got a truckload of traffic out of it, purchase Armour. Jim Romenesko got responses from everyone involved, and the Times reporter said he wasn't worried about his work being aggregated, but that "every hour spent summarizing is an hour not spent reporting." GigaOM's Mathew Ingram said both reporting and aggregation have real value for readers.

— Per the tech blogging debate of the last couple of weeks, the Los Angeles Times asked whether tech bloggers' lack of objectivity is undermining their credibility. It led to a fascinating Twitter discussion about transparency, objectivity, and credibility, which Josh Stearns helpfully Storified.

— The Atlantic reposted a manifesto for young people who have grown up on the Internet by a Polish writer named Piotr Czerski. It's a well-written glimpse at the values cultivated by a life shaped by the web.

News Corp.'s problems spread to the Sun: The ongoing phone hacking scandal at News Corp., which took down News of the World last summer, is now threatening to swallow the company's other British tabloid: The Sun. Five of its top journalists were arrested last weekend as part of an investigation into bribing public officials, which News Corp.'s internal investigation is reported to have determined amounts to more than 10,000 pounds per year, with officials essentially on retainer.

That investigation generated some controversy itself when it handed over details of Sun journalists' sources to the police, Japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal, though it said it redacted the information heavily and didn't pass on documentation of standard journalistic source interaction. Journalists at News Corp.'s three British newspapers — the Sun, the Times, and the Sunday Times — were livid, and prepared for a legal challenge by hiring a top human rights attorney who promptly ripped the decision to hand over sources in a Times column.

Others joined in the criticism: Britain's National Union of Journalists and the Sun's competitor, the Daily Mail, buy Lipitor without prescription, blasted News Corp.'s investigative committee, with the latter saying it "should hang its head in shame." And Ryan Chittum of the Columbia Journalism Review was concerned about the precedent set by having police riffling through millions of newspaper emails, though he and British j-prof Roy Greenslade defended the police's stern treatment of Sun journalists in their arrests.

So what does Rupert Murdoch do now, Lipitor For Sale. At the Guardian, Murdoch biographer Michael Wolff urged him to give the company "something of a noble death" — sell the Sun, Lipitor canada, mexico, india, and use the proceeds to establish a trust for the Times and Sunday Times. Ad Age's Simon Dumenco suggested News Corp. will simply shut the Sun down, saying that like News of the World, it's been reduced to merely a "repository of evidence that [needs] to be destroyed." Forbes' Jeff Bercovici argued that it's only a matter of time before one of the two happens, especially since dropping its newspapers would help News Corp.'s bottom line.

The FBI is investigating the company for bribing foreign officials, and the Guardian reported its executives could be prosecuted for being "willfully blind" about their company's wrongdoing. Path, privacy, and reforming tech journalism: What started last week as one tech startup's privacy faux pas had by this week turned into a full-blown debacle for privacy on mobile devices, when we learned that the address books in smartphones are available for free to developers, often without the owner's knowledge. The company received a wave of criticism and apologized, but soon the names of other companies — big companies — that were doing essentially the same thing trickled out. As PandoDaily's Greg Kumparak wrote, this was a common practice that was simply understood among developers to be just fine, even though it was against Apple's guidelines, Lipitor For Sale. Kumparak reminded developers that address book data isn't theirs to begin with, and Om Malik of GigaOM urged them to consider the moral imperative, rather than just what's allowed. Of the many responses to Siegler's piece, Newsweek tech editor Dan Lyons' was the most severe, as he described TechCrunch and several other tech blogs as a racket to extract "investment" out of venture capitalists in exchange for good press about their startups. (If you want to go all the way down the rabbit hole, you can read Arrington and Siegler's rebuttals.)

Frederic Lardinois of Silicon Filter said both the pageview-chasing and VC coziness are serious problems within tech journalism, but there are still plenty of tech outfits staying above the fray and doing solid work. Lipitor interactions, And ReadWriteWeb's Scott Fulton urged tech bloggers to step outside the tech-journalism bubble and refocus on what journalism is: "Journalism is not about being an expert in twenty different things. It's about being interested in all of them, knowing how to ask questions, and how to elicit information from the answers."

AP goes on the copyright offensive: Another skirmish in the long war between traditional news organizations and online aggregators began this week, as the AP sued Meltwater News, a Norwegian company that helps businesses track mentions of themselves in media sources through a searchable database. The AP alleges that Meltwater uses its content without paying for licensing fees, order Lipitor no prescription, allowing it to create a cheaper service that directly takes subscribers from the AP, as an AP attorney told the Guardian. News sites lag in advertising: Pew's Project for Excellence in Journalism released a study this week that painted a really depressing picture of advertising at top news websites. Among the major findings: In-house ads are the most common kind of ads on news websites, very few news sites do any targeted advertising based on users' online behavior, and very few do work with any ads other than static banner ads, either.

PaidContent's Jeff Roberts pointed out Lipitor For Sale, that most news orgs are at a major disadvantage when it comes to selling digital ads in that they weren't raised on it like tech companies have been, and thus need to constantly play catch-up when it comes to strategies and software. Marco Rubio's statement that a majority of Americans are conservative "mostly true" because a plurality of Americans are conservative. The papers were put on the block a few weeks back, and may be sold to a group led by former Philly mayor and  Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell. This week, the company announced layoffs and buyouts, and over the past two weeks, both WHYY and the New York Times have reported that executives have interfered with stories about the sale. Former Daily News reporter Buzz Bissinger lamented the papers' future.

— A couple of pieces on online content that are a worth a read: Reuters' Felix Salmon expressed his skepticism about the widespread viability of longform articles online, and here at the Lab, j-prof Dan Kennedy reported on the comment conundrum at Connecticut's New Haven Independent and why it matter for other news sites.
